Well, today is my birthday, I'm 24!

... I wish I had more to say, especially since it's been so long since I made a post, but oh well.
If anybody wants to keep up on what I'm doing, I spend most of my time in the Ubuntu community doing misc. stuff, mostly updating the gmpc-trunk ppa. You can see my micro-blog posts at http://identi.ca/ripps.

Updated Dust Cold

It's been a while since I mentioned anything about the my Dust Cold theme on Livejournal, so I decided to post an update.

Resynced Dust Cold with Dust from bazaar branch. Now at version 0.4.0. Lots of changes, go take a look.

Synced Dustfox Cold with Dustfox from bazaar branch. No longet need to keep seperate versions for firefox-3.0 and firefox-3.1.

Added Nodoka Dust Cold. My version of the Nodoka Dust theme, it's very pretty and I fixed a couple issues the original Nodoka Dust had (e.g. Evolution new button). You'll need to use the git version of the Nodoka engine. I've built packages for that in my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ripps818/+archive/ppa

Created Launchpad bazaar branches for Dust Cold and Dustfox Cold, so you guys don't have to wait until I upload a package to Gnome-Look.org anymore.

Packages are available here:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=92992

Finally, Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope is released.
I've been using it for months now, since it was in Alpha. But I have to say, Jaunty is probably the fastest and cleanest version of Ubuntu yet. Everything works great.

Anybody wanting to install Ubuntu 9.04, or just take it for a test drive without installing anything, you can download a CD ISO here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Well, I've been downgraded from a Paid account to a Plus account. I decided not to buy it this year because I simply don't have the money to pay for a service a barely use. I just wish I could've chosen which userpics to keep. A couple have become invalid, particularily the one's I made myself. Instead of the one's that I actually use, I get to keep the south park and matrix userpics that I've used only once.

Thoughts from High School

I remember when I was a teenager, I was playing football in PhyEd (coed). I was playing defense and blocking anybody who got through. But since I was really big and heavy, nobody could get past me or knock me down. One girl was playing quarterback, she was really fast (I think she played soccer), and she tried to get past me. I, of course, blocked her way. She tried to push me out of the way, that didn't work very well, I was like double her weight (at least). So her next try was to make me stumble and fall. While she was try to side swipe my legs, she somehow managed to break her own leg. She was in crutches for months.

The saddest thing is, she was always really nice to me after that. But I blamed myself for her broken leg, so whenever I saw her, I would never talk to her because I felt so guilty. She was kind of cute, and not many girls ever tried to associate with me, but she did, but I wouldn't because of some silly accident. Today, I kinda regret not trying to know her better now.

Take It up a Nowtch!

I've decide to try out becoming a cook. I feel like that might something that I could do that won't leave me feeling bored or detached. The only problem: no body in the food-service industry is seeking employment here. The only job remotely related was as a bartender.
Bartending does sound like an interesting job. I probably wouldn't get bored too easily and it would allow me to work at night. The only problem? I don't drink alcohol and I don't know how to make any drinks.

*sigh* Maybe I'll wait and see what opens up. Maybe I should learn to drive first?

Don't mind me.
Just testing out the LogJam client for Linux.

If this works, this might be a pretty nice client for posting to LJ.

You've just been Steampunk'd

Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...

The Gadgeteer

21% Elegant, 72% Technological, 17% Historical, 44% Adventurous and 34% Playful!

You are the Gadgeteer, the embodiment of steampunk technology. Ironically, many of the things that most define your style are probably too large to easily carry about, but given the opportunity you would prefer to be seen surrounded by boiler engines, gear-driven calculators, and incredible automata. Of all the steampunk fashion styles, you place the greatest emphasis on technological accessories, and you are the most likely to create elaborate gadgets that are as much a part of your outfit as your clothes. You probably have goggles, but unlike most people you consider them to be for more than decoration. Whereas most people might look odd carrying a satchel of tools around, for you they may well be essential. Above all, you remind everyone that what sets the genre apart from Victoriana is simply the level of technology.

Try our other Steampunk test here.

Take The Steampunk Style Test at HelloQuizzy
